Dear Sorensen Colleagues,
After serving more than eight years as executive director of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, I have decided to move into a new job at the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. My new position on July 1 will involve exciting opportunities to focus on engaging citizens and leaders in revitalizing and guiding the creation of new leadership in a number of Virginia communities.
The search for the next executive director will commence on July 1, and will be chaired by the new Chairman-Elect of the Sorensen Statewide Advisory Board, Ray LaMura.
Colleen Smith will serve as interim executive director of Sorensen, which is also a part of the Cooper Center for Public Service. In fact, my new office will be less than 200 feet from Colleen and the rest of the Sorensen staff, whom I have been so privileged to work with.
I could not ask for better colleagues or finer alumni than I have been able to work with and am deeply thankful for the eight-plus years spent with Sorensen following a 34-year career in journalism. I am also delighted to be moving into my new position at UVA’s Academy for Civic Renewal.
Best,
Bob
