Sorensen seeks Executive Director

The University of Virginia invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. The closing date is Aug. 31, 2016.

Founded in 1993, the non-partisan mission of the Sorensen Institute is to enhance the governance of Virginia by preparing citizens to take leadership roles, whether they plan to run for elective office, serve on boards and commissions, or become more active as community leaders. The Institute was created to bring together diverse individuals with a passion for politics and public service with a wide variety of viewpoints and backgrounds who want to work together for the common good.

Desirable qualifications are: a personal reputation reflective of the organizations core values and mission, experience in fundraising and financial management, a record of organizational vision and implementation, ability to function smoothly in a highly partisan environment, ability to connect the Sorensen Institute to the curriculum and research of the University of Virginia, leadership and management experience in a complex institutional setting, and success in providing adult education. Salary commensurate with experience.
