The Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership wishes to acknowledge the passing of Leigh Middleditch, one of its co-founders and an ongoing source of inspiration throughout its history.
Sorensen Advisory Board Chair Ray LaMura stated that “We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Leigh Middleditch, one of our co-founders and a vital presence in the life of the Sorensen Institute for nearly 30 years. Leigh was a longtime member of our board and played a key role in many of our successes, though he was content to allow his actions to do the talking and didn’t seek out recognition. Sorensen will miss Leigh’s leadership but will carry on his legacy with its dedication to the mission of building trust, civil dialogue, respect, and ethics in our political and governing system through leadership development."
Larry Terry, the Executive Director of the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service -- Sorensen's parent organization -- offered his reflections on Leigh’s passing. “Leigh’s vision for developing ethical political leaders in the Commonwealth through the Sorensen Institute was ahead of its time. We are saddened by his passing and will continue to honor his legacy by continuing to provide innovative, balanced leadership development in all our programs. His insight and contributions will be truly missed.”
Our thoughts are with Leigh’s friends and loved ones during this difficult time, and we hope they know how much Leigh meant to all of us.
